Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lift Pass "Consecutive Days"...

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all, Very simple question which I suspect I know the answer to already but I can't find a straight answer online.

I will be skiing in Saint Gervais in Feb and whilst I will be skiing every day, other members of the group probably won't be. So we figured for those skiing less, we would buy them a lift pass with three days loaded on to the lift pass card. However the website offers a price for three 'consecutive days'. Presumably this means by day four the card would need additional funds irrespective of whether say for example, only two days had been used? Can anyone on here recollect the policy from Saint Gervais or any other resort with a similar scheme?

Cheers! Puzzled

@dredgey, it varies from resort to resort. Some offer a 5 in 7, or 10 in season option for example. Looking at Saint Gervais' website it seems they only offer consecutive days lift passes.

@dredgey, Most european resorts only offer consecutive days. I am not sure what has happened to the roaming pass offered by CdA where you paid for a card in adavance and gave your bank details then every day you used it a new debit would be made, much like an autoroute Telepeage, but even that would probably work out too expensive for your group.

As I see it you have four options:

1/ Buy 6 day lift passes and if you do not use it on one day you loose the money
2/ Find out, in advance what days the others want to ski. Do not give them the option of changing their plans
3/ Buy a pass each morning for when you want them (this is a very expensive option)
4/ Tell them that they are on a skiing holiday and should ski every day for 6 days. It is afterall a very short time.

Nope, Evasion Mont Blanc doesn't do non-consec days. But buying day by day isn't ruinously expensive and you can recharge online the night before if you think you're going too ski.

Just buy day passes. It's not really much more expensive than buying multi-day tickets.

OK I do not know about St. Gervais, but for Les Arcs 6 one day passes is 51 euro more than a single 6 day pass. That to me is a very expensive option.

It's a 17% difference. Hardly enormous.

And a 3-day pass (as per the OP) is only €3 less than 3 one-day passes...

worth working out how to do that, as it could be pretty busy in February and there's nothing more annoying than queuing at a lift pass office, watching other people messing up the new corduroy.

Thanks for the replies all, its confirmed what I figured would be the case. Best option is to charge the lift pass up day by day online. Thanks @under a new name as this is what I had suspected. @johnE, Like your option number 4 the best. Would be a viable one too but we're a party of two families with a couple of 2yr olds who I doubt will be skiing as such and instead finding their feet, so its a question of who is on child care duties and on which day.

@dredgey, I have been looking and does the Evasion Mont Blanc not offer a "liberty" pass, which is a non consecutive pass. A 3 day liberty pass is more expensive then a 3 day consecutive pass, in fact I think it is just 3 X the day rate but saves you having to top up.
On another note, I have left it to late to buy my EMB online. Does anyone know if I can buy it in the tourist office in Saint Gervais the evening before?
