Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski length question

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi

My son is 142cm tall 10 years old and 35 kilos

I want to buy him a pair of skis.............Im thinking 130 is to short as it will be too short for him next year, and 140 too long for this year.

He is going for his Bronze level this year so can ski fairly well.

Any advice please

Thanks

I would not bother at that age unless he is on the skis every day for weeks on end, as he will no doubt have outgrown them by next season.. My kids did when we even hired them.
Once they stop growing then buy them a cracking pair..

The right length is really important. My stepson got given some skis in a hire shop that were too long for him (about head height) when he was 10 and you could see that it really affected his confidence and ability - so definitely don't buy too long so they'll 'last another year'. And my neice had her own skis, but when we went to the hire shop to get boots, the fitters strongly recommended she get longer ones, as they were too short.

So - if you buy, buy the right size for your son this year. I think there's a decent kids ski market on ebay so it's fairly easy to buy and sell second hand if you're set on buying.
