Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

St.Anton Trip - cant find anywhere to stay

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
3 of us are visiting St Anton in 3rd week of Jan for 4 days and struggling to find availability. Can anyone suggest any possible places to stay (hotel, pension or guest house) which take short stay bookings? Ideally close to the centre and lifts.

Your first port of call should be the St Anton tourist office. They are very good and will find you somewhere. E-mail or phone them

Wot the old man said. Third week in Jan 'should' normally be fairly quiet. The problem is that you are not booking for a full week. Hotels etc usually hate that. They will only give away rooms for less than a week at the very last minute.

@nickhill, Welcome to snowHeads! snowHead

As previous posters have said, firstly speak to the local tourist office.

Also a good resource for finding accommodation for stays of less than a week is www.tiscover.com. I don't know your exact preferred dates. but entering a 4 day duration from 19th Jan as an example into the tiscover site shows the 3 star Nassereinhof has a room for 2 adults at 668 Euros and a single room at 488 Euros incl Breakfasts

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

St Anton tourist office are fricken useless for short stay accommodation. Best bets are Pettneu or as above Tiscover search

But if your 4 days are including a Friday and a Monday, and thus crossing two normal weeks, you might very well be in in trouble, even in January.

@nickhill, I've stayed in Haus Harry for a short break at the time which was booked about this time.

The lifts / centre are a 10 min walk

Nice hotel - well the bar is Laughing . We would use it as a stopping off point on our walk back up the hill to our apartment.

We had the same problem last year in Ischgl and ended up going to St Anton.

This far ahead 95% are looking for week bookings Sat-Sat and 99.9% wont split over 2 weeks ie friday - Monday

1) Try here and see if you get any offers https://web4.deskline.net/stanton/en/request?customHeader=true

2) wait until a few weeks before you go when they let rooms go for less than week

This is where we stayed http://members.aon.at/ebnerkurt/index_en.htm
About 50 metres from the lift ,nice room, excellent breakfast
They are a older couple and have a few rules ,shoes off at the door ,no noise when you coming in of a night out etc
We were nice and polite and they were back to us...Looking on Tripadvisor if you go in with an attitude or wee wee them off then forget it

They do take quite a few days to reply to e-mails and we didnt have to pay a deposit upfront

Most accomodations will not release rooms for short stays becuase they try to fill them and cash in on a full 7 days busineess.

Only a week or two before will they release rooms for short stay.

Your best option is offer to pay for a full week even if your only staying 4 days.

Down valley Pettneu, Schann ,Flirsch you shouldnt have a problem on shorter stays.

Like somone above says stradling a weekend you defintely will not find anything or at least your be extremely lucky if you do.

Best chance of luck booking short stay (nearer your departure date) is to book 3 days

Thurs,Fri Sat
or
Sun, Mon, Tues

Alternatively stay in Innsbruck , its only a 1 hour train commute to St Anton

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

The suggestion of staying in Innsbruck actually looks like quite a good one.

Looks like the train takes 1:10 each way and runs every 2hr most of the day, 21.20 Euro each way (I was bored, but not bored-enough to see if there were discount tickets). Catch the 16:57 train and you'll be back in Innsbruck at 18:04, about right to get to your hotel, shower/change and head out for some food. A quick look on Expedia and there's a budget guesthouse in spitting distance of the station with a tripple from for £70/night (£23/pp assuming 2 of you are happy to share a double).

Can you find accomodation in St Anton for less than £50pp/night...?

 You know it makes sense.

I put some random dates in for the 3rd week in Jan and got plenty options on Booking.com. I'd book somewhere on there now with the free cancellation option. That way you can keep looking for better deals but with the comfort that you've got something.
