Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I've never heard of idmobile, is this for on the continent? Or can it be used in UK? Can someone please tell me the pros n cons as my contract is up for rental in spring and I was going to change from Vodafone to 3 because of the "at home" benefits but if there are others worth considering I'd like to know. Thanks

@speachmaus, It's Carphone Warehouse's own network which uses 3. Biggest advantage over 3 is that you can use your plan abroad as long as you want, officially with 3 it is limited although a lot of people seem to get away with longer.

@Claude B, thanks. And did you say it covers more countries?

@speachmaus, No less actually, about 30 compared to 100 for 3. Covers ones I need though and I need to roam for many months so didn't want to risk 3 barring me roaming.

Not being very technically savvy, what I like about Three is that my data is unlimited. Keeping checking useage is a pain. I have a monthly Sim only plan though, so will be looking out for alternatives.

@Claude B, my understanding is that 3's feel at home only covers about 20 countries. Listed here:

@Lauka, Oh so it might be better. It's the unlimited roaming that attracted me though.

I wish it didn't cover Switzerland. Then every time I go to Geneva airport I could "restart" my Feel at Home session. wink

We've just added Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
This is in addition to the existing list of countries:
Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Romania, Spain, Sweden and USA.
So when you’re in any one of these countries, you’ll be able to use your data, and make calls or send texts to UK mobile numbers and landlines.
Calls to foreign numbers (even when you’re in the same country) aren’t included.

@pam w, I spent over 3 months in the USA this summer and we didn't get cut off! Then went straight to Norway and it still worked. They don't seem to be very good at cutting you off when you pass the 3 months.

so i popped into a 3store today and had a chat with one of the sales rep. I was told that I can get a £20 pay as you go sim that would allow me to use feel at home for a month abroad with all you can eat data.

I had alook on their website tonight and can see absolutely nothing that correlates to what I was told in store.

Does anyone know if what the sales rep is true?

I'm looking for a one month only sim as I am content on my o2 plan and have no intentions to change.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Yes I had this deal from about April this year until September when I went on a 12 month contract. You just top up £20 then immediately buy a bundle or whatever they call it - the £20 one. Then you're good to go and feel at home just works automatically whenever you're in one of the included countries. You can top up and buy bundles online.

@Lauka, so you got a 12-month contract. I just want to pay for one month and thats it not pay them anything else.

Sorry @extremerob, that was meant to say *then* I went on a 12 month contract. Prior to October I was PAYG and bought bundles each month as I described above.

Its the All-in-one £20 that you'd want. Order your free sim and activate etc., then top up £20, then use that £20 credit to buy the £20 add-on

@extremerob, I have a pay monthly SIM only deal with 3 - no problem, you can now use feel at home immediately. You don't need to do any add ons AFAIK. That's the deal I have.

Just don't rely 100% on having a fast connection when you're there - it varies. It was brilliant in Norway, crap in my corner of the French alps.

@extremerob, it may be cheaper to go for their rolling one month notice deal than a PAYG and topups. Just sign up, and then immediately give notice.

Finally managed to sort data roaming out for idmobile. Because I'm on a sim only deal some of the settings on my phone needed configuring and it's now working OK Happy
