Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Should I try ski touring in Patagonia in June?

I've read that's not the best period to go there for off-piste: https://www.explore-share.com/en/blog/2-what-you-need-to-know-about-ski-touring-in-patagonia
Is that true? I really wouldn't want to go if it gets really crowded. I'm flying to BA around June the 16th and staying in Argentina for 2-3 weeks more. Are there any alternatives for doing off-piste?
If not, I was considering not taking my skis and heading north for a hike, maybe. Any ideas? Puzzled

All depends on when the snow arrives.

Typically your time frame is early. Think October in the NH

The article is good, but places like Portillo are not in Patagonia.

@lovelyteddybear, I think June is early for off piste in Argentina, the season is just getting started, but like Mike says it depends on the snow.
At least you will be in an exciting country, lots of other things to do! And eat!

@lovelyteddybear, a friend runs climbing & ski touring trips over there. You might find something informative on his website ... http://www.andes.org.uk/

For actual Patagonia I think October/November is better. Argentina/Chile July-Sept. Looking increasingly like a strong El Nino phase is coming into play though, which should mean a big snow season... Though I've no idea if there's data on how that stacks up early season.
