Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

glencoe uplift question

Might be going to Glencoe in near future but know nothing of it, how suited is it to am intermediate boarder and what are the uplift arrangements, some of it looks a bit intimidating eg cliff chair, also stupid question re access chair, do you keep board on or take it off and carry it on that lift.

Unless it's late season, board is usually on for the access chair uplift, and if you're not riding to the car park, it's off for the downlift.

The single person cliffhanger chair is slow, so it's easy to get on and off.

If you're nervous of the T-Bar to the summit, you may be best doubling-up with a skier for the extra stability.

quite happy on t bars, it's steep exits from chairlifts that spit you off that I don't like

The access chair lands you on a wooden deck with a gentle, snow-covered ramp down to level snow. It's not normally so busy that you need to double up so you'll have plenty of space.

Cheers should be all good then, what's it like for boarders generally, I stick to the pistes and avoid the park, only really experienced cairngorm in Scotland

Boarders love it. Much of the terrain is unpisted, and mainly uses natural snow-holding. Very little snow-fencing, plenty of twists and turns, ups and downs. It's rougher and readier, but as unlike Cairngorm as you can imagine, mostly in a good way.

And the Cliffy chair is flat at top, have to push off the chair to get away. Main Basin T-bar is a bit of a thigh-burner. Slow uplift so empty slopes at Glencoe, really good terrain, trouble sometimes is finding someone to follow when you don't know where you are going.

Glencoe is just....different. It has to be tried! Great scenery; some challenging runs for intermediates (Spring Run: Brilliant; Flypaper: Wear your brown trousers Shocked Laughing):

It just has a nice, relaxed feel to the place.

Very pleasant cafe at the bottom; tiny, hopelessly inadequate-on-weekends cafe at the top. Best to get the chair down (it is rarely skiable back to car park level) on a lunchtime.

I don't bother having my board strapped on for either chair at Glencoe.

How are you on t-bars? prepared to share?

In my experience, most snowboarders carry their boards on the Cliffy. It's super-flat at the top.
