Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Stubai?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

A second vote for Stubai:

- Extensive glacier (more so than Hintertux) - nice and varied.
- Lovely valley/scenery.
- Neustift or Fulpmes are very pleasant places to stay (and Fulpmes' Schlick 2000 area may still be open then?).
- Fulpmes is under 30 mins drive from Innsbruck Airport, with the glacier only about 15-20 mins. further.

Or Soelden or Obergurgl:
- High altitude/snow sure.
- Big ski areas, open well into April.
- Pleasant enough resorts (especially Obergurgl).

Or - if you will have use of a hire car - you could do worse than a high altitude road trip? eg Glaciers at Stubai, Soelden, Kaunertal and Pitztal plus non-glacier skiing at Kuhtai, Ischgl, St Anton, Obergurgl??

The world's your oyster @mugen!

@mugen, check the closing dates as many places start closing down as of end of play on Easter Monday, which is th 6th April this year. Others will close on Sunday 12th (e.g lots of the Sportwelt amadé), some other areas will stay open until the end of April.

I'd look at basing yourself somewhere in the Ötztal - Langenfeld is pretty good as a base for all the areas. There won't be much traffic along the valley roads that's for sure, so Sölden and Obergurgl can be reached quite quickly - free car parks at the base stations of the lifts make it painless. I suspect only the Giggijoch will be open as an access to the Sölden area. They shut the Gaislachkogl when numbers just don't warrent the costs of keeping it open.

Basing yourself in Langenfeld means you are also in Kuhtai, Kaunertal, etc pretty quickly too. Plus Langenfeld has one of the world's best Thermal spa baths in the Aquadome - totally amazing even without needing to go full monty! wink

thanks sue and thanks for your info re ischgl earlier this year, was a real help.

I was aware of the closing dates so was working around that as well. have decided to go for St Anton for the moment as haven't been there. seems that week is also a cheaper ski pass for what it's worth.
