Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Question re Zermatt - Cervinia link

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hey

I want to meet my dad in Zermatt next week for the day (I live in Aosta) but rather than drive over two hours (and the tolls) I thought I'd go from Cervinia. Can someone please tell me roughly how long it takes to get from Cervinia over to Zermatt, and also how long it takes to get back/roughly what time I'd want to leave Zermatt.

Also saw something in an old thread here about the Cervinia lift pass not working on the Zermatt side until 11am, is that correct?

Thanks!

@moseyp, when we went to Zermatt 3 out of the 6 days we were skiing, the lifts (which allowed you to come cross over) were closed all day due to high winds.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It takes about 45 mins going and and hour coming back.

Make sure the weather forecast is good especially with regards to wind speed

@moseyp, I was in Cervinia last week and the lifts were shut by the wind all day. I have been there when they were shut in the afternoon stranding people. On that occasion the stranded started to smash up the lift and they opened it!

@moseyp, Lifts over to Zermatt from Cervinia are often closed due to high winds but next week (so far!) winds are forecast to be light.

@moseyp, keep an eye on the digital display boards above the lifts. When we were there a couple of years back they closed the cable car up from Trockener Steg at 2.30pm most days for some reason.

Thanks @hammerite, @tessaventer

Anyone know if the Cervinia lift pass works in Zermatt before 11am? That might be a bit annoying if I get there at 10 ish and can't use lifts for an hour

@moseyp, can't imagine there would be a time restriction. Those who have got stuck in Zermatt for the night would have to use the lifts early on!
