I've been let down by some friends and am finding it very difficult to book a solo holiday as most sites are only interested in couples as a minimum. Looking to go on 31st Jan for one week. Originally we were looking at La Plagne. Don't really want to share a room but would prefer a catered chalet.
So...anyone got any recommended sites for late solo bookings?

@Richienotsorich, How about a Snowhead's bash. It looks like there's one place left. You will need to book flights but everything else will be laid on for you. See here http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=113427
Edit: You would have to share a room though. On the plus side you'd have around a hundred friends to meet.

I booked an easyjet flight to Geneva and sorted out the transport and a hotel room for myself in Interlaken. Probably more expensive than an organised trip but i`ve stayed in the hotel before and so i know it`s a great place.

@Richienotsorich, Welcome to snowHeads!
It seems that geepee has directed you to the thread for the Bus transfer for the S11BB. What you want first is the main thread: http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=108422
Otherwise you could look at some of the specialist single operators:
- SingleSport offer a number of ski holidays for solo travellers
- Cold Fusion Chalets have chalets in Chamonix and Morzine which are set up to accommodate solo travellers.
(PS - EK probably means Espace Killy - so Val d'Isere or Tignes)

Doesn't mountain sun have some single rooms?

I think Ice and Fire or whatever they are called have single rooms. Plus in Austria and Italy it's very common to have the odd single room in hotels, same board basis as a catered chalet.

If you can do the week earlier and from Manchester then maybe silver ski?

I emailed them yesterday and found the single supplements for that week are quite reasonable But I needed Gatwick which had sold out.

Thanks for the replies guys (and gals?!) plenty to look at there. I can't do the week before due to work. Not so keen to share a room, don't think anyone else could put up with me for a week so closely, my girlfriend struggles! She has dodgy knees so won't go, hence why I'm looking for solo trips.

Most hotels in France charge by the room, whether there are one or two people in them. Maybe Austria and Italy are the same - don't know about them. Just book a flight and contact hotels/chalets direct. I'd probably go for just a room in a hotel, then not be forced to eat in the hotel every night, even if the food is OK - it's nice to explore different eateries sometimes. The cost of transfers can be quite high and it's rarely going to be worth renting a car for one person. So somewhere with lower cost transfers would be good. A lot of austrian/swiss places can be reached by train. Some French places can, but there are also some lower cost bus transfers, particularly to Chamonix.
if you look at the website bensbus.co.uk you'll get a good feel for the resorts which can be reached fairly cheaply.
Catered chalets are sociable for solo skiers - try ice and fire as suggested above but also worth putting your requirements on the solutions room at chalets direct.

I have gone solo on a Snowheads holiday (great). Also found cheap chalet accomodation via 'solutions room' at chalets direct.
MountainSun Ltd do have single rooms for a reasonable rate with the all important transfer included. Tignes in the EK is great and you could do a weeks lessons for 'buddies'.
Clubmed sometimes have single rooms and everything ex-skis are laid on. Great value.
Inghams have some rooms in Meribel for singles.
Go on a Freshtracks holiday with Ski Club GB or a Snoworks course if they have one available.
Loads of opportunities. I even entice my non-skiing wife to come by subsidising for her friends to come too!

@Richienotsorich, After it was getting increasingly difficult to get ski trips together with friends I took the plunge and did a solo trip, now I prefer it.....
I've been with Snoworks and in EK (Val d'Isere/Tignes etc) Snoworks partner with Mark Warner who do have single rooms, but you seem to have to get in early. Otherwise I think if you're not willing to share a room and can't find a single room you may just have to be prepared to pay through the nose. I'm going solo again next month and managed to get a double room in a B&B and Gressoney for £280 for a week, If I'd have booked the same room for 2 people it would have been £500 so I've not paid much of a premium for being a single.
With all the ski courses mentioned I expect they're the same in that there'll be plenty of other solo skiers so when you're not skiing the social scene is good. I went to visit a mate who instructs for a week, it was OK skiing on my own for a couple of days with some music but I soon got bored so joined some lessons.
I wanted to join some friends in the 3V last season and looked at a chalet with Crystal, I was basically paying double-strangely they seemed to want to charge me for the flight for my imaginary friend too?! In the end I found a fellow to join me.
If you can't get a solo room and can accept sharing with someone would make it easier for you.

@Bene, I could also offer you a single room at no extra cost in a catered chalet in Sainte Foy for that week. PM me or contact me through the site (link in signature below) if you're interested.
