Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

2nd fastest run in the 2nd leg of the Madonna di Campiglio WC slalom (that stade is awesomely steep!), taking 16th place overall. Currently 21st overall position in the WC slalom standings, equal with Benni Raich. Sweet start to the season Happy

Great work indeed. Here's a thought, how come he only moved up one place in the start order after being seventeenth in Are, Sweden the week before? Doesn't seem fair to me....

jcjc - The start order - outside of the top 30 - is determined by the racer's seed points. The higher the points the later the start position. And the rankings list used for the draw don't change after every race, but only about every 3 weeks.

Dave's FIS points are 8.00 (43rd in the World as at the Åre race). In Åre Dave scored 14.35 - so not low enough to change that ranking. And in Madonna 15.32.

Okanagan, The start order isn't just done on FIS points, the WC Start List is separate and people can get moved around if they have over 500 points and for a few other reasons, I'm fairly sure jcjc knows this.

You can see some of this on page 4 of the full results from Madonna.

@Okanagan, @sarah, @rjs, @Rob@rar, Great thread here and @rjs yes well sort of, I do know how it works. I'm just not convinced about it's effectiveness/fairness. Doesn't seem right to me that someone can fight their way into the top ranks on a Sunday and have (virtually) no recognition of that effort and achievement the following weekend when they are called back into the arena....

Although like many others Dave didn't finish the second Slalom run at Kitz he put in a very good first run. The German commentators were really impressed that someone who started off skiing on a dry slope could eventually compete with the best in the world.
