Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Taxi from Bride les Bains to Meribel

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi Everyone, toying with the idea of a cheap break to Bride les bains but want to be able to enjoy the apres up in meribel. Anyone got a rough idea of the taxi costs for a minibus that can hold 6?

Your looking at about €30 for a round trip by a normal taxi according to what I've read on Trip Advisor, no idea on a mini-bus.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Make sure you agree the price in advance!

If you enjoy a bit of fun/life/apres, dig a bit deeper and forget Brides, you'll spend the difference messing about with taxis. Old skiers go to BLB to die. Confused

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

We're off for a long weekend so struggling to find places to stay in the main resorts at a reasonable price. BLB not ideal but for 10 euro a day each we can taxi up and down to the chaudanne by the sounds of it and stay late for some apres.

Can anyone recommend any taxi companies. Ideally would like to pre book for the time we're there.

@pmercer, why don't you just use the gondola up in the morning, then a taxi down each night?

@Hells Bells, I wonder if perhaps (s)he defines 'Apres' as dinner & clubbing - rather than a few oohjahs after skiing

@red 27, then (s)he definitely needs to rethink staying in BLB.

We are a bunch of approaching middle aged men. Not looking to party till dawn but have a few drinks etc then make our merry way home. Stayed in Les allues many years ago and would prefer to miss the gondola if possible. Even avoiding the walk across the chaudanne and the walk from the hotel to the lift is worth 5 euro in my opinion!

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Are there normally ques to get on the gondola down in BLB?

@pmercer, peak times and peak season - yes there can be queues at the gondola.

Yes, there can be queues but, in my experience, they keep the gondola running until the queue has gone.

We have stayed in BLB many times and like the place. Plenty of advantages but the only down-side is catching the bubble at the end of the day. There are a few bars in BLB where you can catch a few jars too.

I stay in BLB and ski the 3V at least twice a season.

I also enjoy après-ski and my favourite resorts for this are St.Anton, Ischgl, Saalbach & Val D'isere. I also have experienced après ski when staying in Obergurgl, Meribel, Verbier, Cervinia, Kitzbuhel and Sestriere.

I stay in BLB rather than Meribel on my 3V trips because of the lower cost and because BLB has a bit of charm once you get used to it. I prefer it to Les Allues because it is a town rather than a village.

In BLB we enjoy our après-ski at the Petit Auberge which has music and Sky Sports on TV. Sometimes the outside bar and deck of the Hotel Amelie has music and can get quite crowded. The Central Bar provides a quieter drinking experience often in the company of the locals.

In previous years, the BLB Tourist Office has provided a free shuttle bus on Tuesday evenings from Meribel to BLB leaving Meribel at approx. 7pm and 11pm.

Taking a cab for 4 people from Meribel to BLB normally works out about 50 Euros.
