Hi im working in munich begining of march and was thinking of getting a few days skiing in, if i flew out on a friday afternoon flight lands 6 ish how long would it take to get to innsbruck or obergurgl, i know theres about an hour between the two and if the drive is likely to be slow tempted to stop in innsbruck overnight and then get up early to get to the slopes?

@mikekimber24, Innsbruck should take you about 2 hours at that time of day. About 1.5 hours from Innsbruck to Obergurgl. Stopping over in Innsbruck sounds like a good idea.

There're some new 100km/h limits between IBK and Ötztal now (not the whole way, thankfully!), so IBK-Obergurgl is probably pushing towards 2 hours now.

what about the train- direct Munich to Innsbruck. But why go further? Innsbruck is a really great place (or so we thought in the summer). THeres plenty of places to stay, great value food and bars and you can take a lift from th ecity centre. Mor ethan enough for a weekend just from the city- take a bus or two and there is a load...

@ed123, good point. Axamer Lizum and Nordkette are both rad, and within 20 minutes of the city.

Innsbruck to obergurgl took around 1:15 with very little traffic. It is exactly 100km from airport to village, and the 100km/h limit wasn't an issue.
