Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Are bindings interchangeable/swappable?

I've got some 2009/10 volkl racetiger sc skis with marker motion bindings. These are too fast/advanced for my skills at the moment. I've seen some head rev 75 for a reasonable price but with no bindings. The question is would my bindings be compatible? Is it a diy job or specialist only?? Many apologies for what could be a silly question Happy

Quiver killers will let you swap bindings between skis (or switch bindings on the same skis).

Check out The Piste Office

http://www.jonsskituning.co.uk

Click on the Quiver Killer section. If you are near Nottingham (I think it's in Nottingham) he can fit them for you.

I've a sneaking suspicion that you're out of luck... isn't 'Marker Motion' an integrated binding system that attaches to rails built into the top of the ski? If that's the case, you can only move them on to other skis with the same binding rail system, and I'd be surprised if any Head ski will have Marker-compatible rails (as Head usually push rebadged Tyrolia bindings). You'll have to pick up some non-system bindings.

(Re)mounting bindings isn't rocket science, but you do need to be careful. The internet is full of how-to guides for that sort of thing... endless forum threads, photographs, videos, mounting pattern templates, blah blah blah. Getting bindings mounted in a shop isn't particularly expensive though, and potentially much less stressful.

Buy a pair for the rev's you will likely devalue your other skis by more than you can get a cheap pair for on ebay

If Serriadh is correct and they are integrated/rail bindings it's probably not worth trying to put them on another ski.

I am pretty sure @Serriadh is correct. Unique mounts to those skis.

Thanks for replying.
Yes guys, looks like you are right. The top of the racetigers has a stiffening ridge down each side and a gully down the middle which the bindings fit in to. Looks like they are made exclusively for that ski. Oh well back to the drawing board. By the time I'd got suitable bindings for the heads they may not turn out to be that cheap.

You might be able to take the whole plate/binding assembly off and put it on the new skis though. I've some Marker Glide Control bindings and it's a fairly easy job to take the bindings off the plate and unscrew it.

@Mosha Marc, I think you'd need to get a different plate. Maybe you can totally disassemble it?

@Whitty, My old volkl supersport 6* had the same motion bindings, the rails were built into the ski, you could remove the binding but not the rails.

Just buy some bindings off ebay and get them fitted, sell your race tigers on ebay to recoup the cost?

@under a new name, just seen that pic above.

As you say the plate looks like it's fabricated to fit the ridges on those skis. Mine is just flat.

Plan B then.

Unless the mounting area beneath the binding is flat I suppose.

The skis I've seen have rails on. They usually come with PR10/11 bindings depending on year. Would 'any' bindings fit these rails? Sorry for my lack of knowledge but I tried some revs at Chill Factore and found them really easy to ski but can't justify paying full retail for the amount of use I'd get.

@Whitty, You need to use tyrolia power rail (PR) bindings that are designed to fit the power rail which is a lower version of the old railflex but the older railflex will not fit power rail. (you could not even swap between railflex 1 and 2)

There are various fischer and head bindings that are rebadged tyrolias that are designed to fit, but getting them is difficult as the bindings are usually sold with the ski, so a ski shop will get a number of PR bindings to match the number of PR skis they have.

Mmm! These are starting to sound like they maybe more hassle than the saving is worth. Thanks for the heads up on that, could've proved costly.
