Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Les Arcs 1800 restaurants?

Yo snowheads! First time in Les Arcs (staying at 1800) in January 2015. We usually do half board but it's self catering this time - any tips for decent grub (and booze!)?[/img]

If you can, stop in the Super-U at the bottom of the valley (Bourg St Maurice) for food for the apartment for the week. Much cheaper than in resort. If not then at least try and take out some basic provisions with you.

Definitely go for a pint in Bar King Mad in 1800; run by a couple of British fellas Rob & Phil and a very welcome place for an après pint or six. Not too far from Belmont apartments which, from your other post, I see you're staying at. Very good pub grub too.

Also in Villards is Chez Clarisse which I also liked; could get a bit pricey though.

Le Kebab is also quite close by; can you guess what they do?! Actually very tasty, even without a skinful of ale.

I'd recommend you do the torchlit descent from L'Arpette mountain restaurant, its an evening of food, drink, dancing on tables then skiing down to 1800 in the dark(ish). A definite experience. I think they stopped giving regular punters a flaming torch after far too many got p*ssed up and set each other on fire on the ski down....! But if you're travelling with a tour operator they'll be able to hook you up, or you can just book direct by popping in to the restaurant.

I generally prefer the intermarche for food over the super U. But then again I always do my shopping in Arc1600 rather than the hasle of using the funicular and the hike around town.

I could also endorse an evening at the Arpette. It is usually on a Wednesday night. Just call in during the day and book a place. IIRC it is a reasnoble price and includes wine. You turn up as the lifts close, listen to the disco then settle down for the meal (a pirade, raclette or fondue). It usually ends up with table dancing etc. Then the pistuers will escort you down the mountain on a snowmobile. Except unless you really lag behind you'll not see snowmolbile. No doubt it is to pick up drunks before they die of exposure. Unless there is a moon it will be pitch dark. The clever ones have a head torch the rest try desperately not to look behind and get blinded by those that do. I really reccomend it.

The food at Bar King Mad is top notch too, they usually have a deal on 4 pints and a pizza during apres. Here's a link to their website on which you'll find the menu:

Le Benji is good - Sky Sports for those that like that sort of thing, and a really top bloke behind the bar!! Pascal and Karen are very welcoming, food is pretty good - burgers, ribs, fajitas etc. Wifi is pretty stable and its next door to BKM...

this thread has made me very excited as my two daughters and I get to LA on 10th Jan - staying in Charvet: whats the walk like to Villards?

Only about a 5 minute walk from Charvet to the shops and bars of Villards. There is a bus if you're fantastically lazy but I think it would actually be quicker to walk, the bus does a bit of a loop.

I'll be in Les Arcs for opening day on 13th Dec, I decided I couldn't wait until late Feb for my annual trip and have got a nice long weekend to look forward to.
