Poster: A snowHead

Hi Snowheads,
Booking a four day trip Wed 7th to Sunday 11th January
Looking at Cervinia at the moment, though we're flexible to anywhere out of Bergamo, but encountering a familiar problem - places don't want to take a booking for less than a week
Two quick questions:-
What is the "week" in Italy, is it Saturday to Saturday or Sunday to Sunday?
If we wait until the week before how likely is something to come available? We will probably be a small enough group, maybe 4 - 8 and can stay in separate places if necessary
I just note from the prices that that week is still high season in Italy. I'm wondering should we just bite the bullet and book for a full week even though we're only staying four nights (will be getting somewhere cheap so won't break the bank)

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

I suppose given we can hit Madonna or the Dolomites also we'd prob be unlucky not to get somewhere that had availability....?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

8611, www.tiscover.com is a good resource for part week accommodation. e.g in Folgaria, Hotel Casa Santa Maria for your dates is 235 Euros for a double room B&B.
Hope this helps

I think that more possibilities you have in Sud Tirol. I have been there a couple of times and booked e.g. 10 days or less than 7 days. They are more flexible. Of course i dont know if its possible for you to go there. Where is your flight??? However places like Madonna usually go sat-sat...better in Dolomites.
Maybe Kronplatz ???

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

A quick look on booking.com suggests no issues. What's the problem?

You can book here for any numbers of days.
http://www.alpholiday.it/lang/EN/homepage
It is in the Valley on the main road from Male to Passo Tonale so you would need a car.
From here you could ski a different each day if you wanted. Go up the hill to Folgarida/Madonna di Campiglio or drive a few miles up the main road to Passo Tonale or Pejo 3000, etc.

Many thanks for all your suggestions, I hadn't realised that tiscover did Italy and previously thought that booking invariably found you places 18 kms away as the crow flies (have had a few returns for St Anton when looking for Ischgl!), but on closer inspection there's a few runners for Madonna on there and a bit to work with anyway, many thanks everyone!

8611, it'd only take 3 1/2 by car and I slept most of the train journey so it wasn't that bad really!

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

We stayed in Sestriere and are friends stayed in Sauze D'olux which is part of the Milkyway ski area ,it looks a similar distance from Bergamo as cervina.
There ware were various hotels that would let stay any length of time . We happened to stay in the Olympic Village hotel in sestriere.
