Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

ringingmaster, we've also never had an issue going around the similar time of year....always seem to make good time.

yes, though I very rarely book anything because I don't travel at peak times and have always found something when necessary. I don't know when I start the journey whether I'm going to want to stop after 6 hours or carrying on through, and have the luxury of being able to please myself and drive/stop/eat/sleep whenever it seems appropriate. You're right, of course, I've had fewer problems with late season travel but nonetheless, if it's raining, you can't legally average 108 kph from Calais to Val Thorens. wink

pam w, has a point about relaxing and not worrying about when you arrive. OK you have planned to arrive at 9:00 in the resort and get a full day's skiing in only to be held up for 3 hours on the A6 by an accident ahead, which actually happened to me on an Easter trip. We eventually said "sod it", pulled off the motorway and had a long leisurely breakfast. OK we lost a day's skiing but the poor people in the accident lost a lot more.

Percentage wise I have had just about as much trouble on Easter drives as Christmas drives. Including the above accident, rain, massive jams in the UK forcing me to miss the ferry. All the times I have had to use snow chains to get upto Les Arcs have been on Easter holidays. It genuinely does seem to snow more at Easter than Christmas.

Normally we have one stop for fuel and one extra stop for toilet and food. Every 3 hours or so we swap drivers.

Wow, I must be lucky as well, probably been at Easter ten times and never had a problem

Another vote for looking at Beaune for option one. Nice town but should have plenty of chain accommodation to suit
