@moffatross, Not much tbh. I like to be on holiday? Daft I know when its there and sometimes very good but being self employed things tend to get in the way of plans whereas when I'm in the Alps I'm away from it.
On a weather note this is interesting, would surely be biblical in mid winter?

I know this will change so if someone who knows what to do can capture and post that would be most helpful?

There's still lots of snow high up in the alps. Just no ski lifts to take you there.

On top of the recent snowfall at altitude in the Alps 10-20cm of fresh snowfall heading to Hintertux down to 1400-1500m. And they have lifts there too.

I'm going to Val Thorens in a couple of weeks to put up a new wardrobe, will be taking my road bike. With a bit of luck might be able to get some skiing in as well if I can be bothered hiking up.

Fun day at Stubai with a fair bit of new snow, though my binding broke so I spent more time filming than skiing. We shaped up a pretty cool feature for my mate to hit (don't know which of these will work the best - should be set as public on all though!):

Edit: Doesn't seem to work that well on any of them haha, so here's the vimeo version!

Summer starts next week but still another two weeks before things look like warm ing up properly here in the UK. June is likely to be snowier this year than November in the Scottish mountains

@nozawaonsen, once you start the new thread i'll post some pictures of the dark side of the moon, or Val Thorens in late June, just to get people wishing for winter.

Things gearing up for the season opennning in New Zealand... Here's The Grasshopper's take... "At somewhere like Treble Cone, above 2000m, we could be looking at 80cm to 150cm by Friday." http://www.mountainwatch.com/snow-forecasts/New%20Zealand/Treble%20Cone
Synoptic Outlook:
North-westerlies rise slightly today ahead of a wee front which will skim through early tomorrow morning with a few centimetres of snow. This is all simply an entre for what’s in store next week. Winds will pick up further on Monday with the freezing level hovering around 2100m. That will mean rain below about 1900m, but snow will start accumulating above there.
The rain and winds continue, and even become a bit heavier and stronger on Tuesday morning, then freezing levels plummet on Tuesday afternoon and snow sets in, continuing all the way through Wednesday, with the potential for another burst on Thursday.
Where this all gets most interesting is at those fields closer to the main divide that like a good north-westerly. So you’ll see, for example, some big numbers showing of for Treble Cone, Ohau and Temple Basin. There will also be a big variation with elevation, because the higher the location, the sooner the snow starts. So here’s how it looks. At somewhere like Treble Cone, above 2000m, we could be looking at 80cm to 150cm by Friday. Down around 1500m you’re going to halve those totals because you’re giving the first half up to rain. Get a bit further from the divide, and you’ll halve those totals again, then ski down to 1300m and you might only pick up 10 to 20cm.
I promise you the Alps are going to look completely different by Friday
