Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

@Langers, how easy is the bus to Ischgl?

Presumably bus/train to Landeck then bus up to Ischgl. I don't think there's (normally!) a direct option.

@Langers, oh right, that's good, we're going with Crystal! Thanks, that's put my mind a bit at ease, I'd rather not have to organise stuff myself wink

I'm so used to putting ski trips together myself, I'd forgotten the advantages of booking with a tour company!

Ski Total have not been so generous as Crystal. We have organised our own taxi to Ischgl at Euro 180 return for 6 of us. ST wanted €99 per person (Inc lift pass) for their Ischgl trip on Tuesday. Ischgl was very good apart from one of our party snapping their cruciate ligament. He is still in Ischgl being operated on. What with the lack of snow in St Anton and the accident this is not exactly our best ski trip ever!

Did ischgl get more snow? Or are they just making more? Are the micro-climates that string that ischgl would have more natural snowfall?

@Redwine, Ischgl has state of the art snow-making and most of the skiing is on a plateau high up above the village

Not great. Pretty much 1 split blue run open. A bit better snow than St Anton but not much better. Worth going to if you have booked to go to St Anton bit don't expect any favours with the busses. Either pay 7 EUR return or do the 3 bus shuffle.

Going back to Ischgl again tomorrow and then may try Stuben 17 on the way to lech on Friday.

Ischgl activley try and open as much as they can as early as possible, whereas St Anton has fixed dates no matter how good the snow is. Consequently Ischgl seem to start snowmaking and building pistes earlier - they were grooming pistes and bashing a base down after the October snow, which St Anton didn't. More slopes are also north facing.

Another StAnton report
More snow again today, not massive amounts but adding up and prob 30cms of fresh high up. From what I've seen pistes are much better and can ski back to underground bar no probs.
At altitude snow is excellent , skinned up to Schindlers last two days and found good powder.
Red 14 being marked out and bashed now so should open any day .(and more I assume )

Still v limited but hugely better than sun when I got here .

Ischgl is better , as said and not to crowded yet ! 45mins away on a bus.

With a bit of luck next week will not be a disaster Smile

@TheManOnTheBus, natural snow down to town now, see the webcams. Pistes will be fine in St Anton, improving over next few days I'd guess, and looking much better Christmas Day on....

Hi we are coming to lech Sunday for a week and are very worried about the skiing situation, we have four older teenagers who will be bored with no skiing. We are travelling with Ski Total, who are being very unhelpful this end. Are they being halepful to you? We would like to ski Ischgl but can't afford to pay 99euro each per day. Do you think we would be better to hire a car so we can drive ourselves there? Many thanks@FionaG,

@Ajn12345, it's snowing on the mountains now, it snowed last night, and it snowed the night before. I haven't been to Lech yet this season, btu conditions should be much better than the start of the week.

A hire car will certainly be cheaper
You won't be bored in Ischgl but you will have to commit to an hour each as every day since you won't then want a lift pass for St anton

Decide day before? See if things improve ( but looks really unlikely) Ischgl will he be busy next week so you will want to get to car park KS early < 9am certainly
