Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Spain?? Not Pyrennes or Sierra Nevada....

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
hi all - good site! I wonder if anyone has any advice on Spain and where i could visit for a couple of days but not Pyrennes or Sierra Nevada??

My parents live about 90km south of Valencia - me, the missus and our little 6 month old are visiting for xmas. I had the brainwave (well i thought so... rolling eyes ) that we could go boarding for a few days and grandparents could babysit. Excellent!! However, they are slap bang in the middle of Sierra Nevada and Pyrennes. That means a 6 1/2 hour drive to either one. Now the missus doesnt want to leave the nipper with them for 4 nights (3days on slopes, 1 day travel) My parents arent keen, 5 packed in a car, the logistics/baggage, travel, hotel, baby sorting/food bla bla bla...

So, i have basically given up Sad Sad Unless some people can come up with any options? Very Happy So far i have only come up with Nieve de Teruel http://invierno.javalambre.nievedeteruel.com/index.asp but with 1 red run i dont think i will even wax my board...

cheeky, Welcome to snowHead . The only options that I know of for you are Valdelinares or Javalambre. Both are tiny resorts, but last winter had quite good cover. You will need a winter equipped car, as the roads are a bit...er.. rural Very Happy

My daughter (a skier) will be studying in Madrid from Jan-May '06. Is Valdesqui the best day trip ski experience from Madrid?

Peter Ross, When it snows the locals are not too prompt with road clearing, when compared to the Swiss (for example). I would suggest emailing the car hire co, in advance of travel.

snowbunny, Thanks, although when I look online for car hire from Girona there is no option of snow chain hire!

You can arrive to Sierra Nevada from Valencia in less than 5 hours at legal speeds, if there is enough snow it worths the the trip.
