Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snowboard boot fitting

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

There's so much on here with regards to ski boot fitting, but can anyone reccomend where I can get a similar standard of snowboard boot fitting? My current pair are from Boot Sole Lab in Chamonix and are now pretty worn out. Currently based in the UK, but I've got one more trip abroad to the Espace Killy. With regards to range, I've always seemed to suit Salomon, both in ski and snowboard boots, and it'll be something on the stiffer end of the spectrum.

I'm happy to replace the whole boot, but may well get away with just a new liner. Any reccomendations for a specific name in any of the big chains, or any of the independents specialise in snowboard boots?

Don't know where you are in the UK but I know that Profeet in Fulham do a proper fitting service for snowboard boots.

A usa option.
Remind solution liners are $136us shipped, duty on top possibly

You could buy some Malamutes and go see colin at solutions4ft and get sizing confirmed then footbeds and heatfitting.
Salomon does the Synapse boot in dbl boa now too.

If salomons were working for you in the past I would be very reluctant to change on salesmans advice .

Thanks for the replies. I phoned up Profeet Richard and they said they don't stock anything, anyone in particular there I should try?

Tirol - maybe... I'm sure I'm ok with the size of Malamute I'm after, but would want the insoles remaking I think, or at least looking at - the current pair look pretty heavily worn. Would a ski boot fitter do this OK? I've heard that you need more movement from a snowboard insole.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I would book colin take some malamute or synapse boots out to him then send the other sizes not needed back for a refund .

What cm size year and model did sole in cham put you in?
They will know if any shell sizing changes have taken place in the new model boots since yours.

What can happen is different year boot shells change or liners can be short lasted.
So sometimes a remote chance exists that the boot numbers you buy do not have the same tight shell gap as the same earlier model you have .
Something like that .

The salomon dialogue and burton ion boot lasts did change they suddenly had larger recreational shell gaps in the new models although they were exactly the same boot size numbers as my older models .

So it happens and the boot churning salesman reap the coin once your feet start swimming in your new boots and mess your trip up with footpain.

Apologies for the bum steer on that one jiagedaping, I'd heard good things about Profeet and that they were one of the few who'd do a custom fit on a snowboard boot. Maybe they'll only do footbeds etc now. I've been trying to persuade a friend to go to them - she all but gave up snowboarding as she couldn't get comfortable boots to fit her tiny feet.

This is still a problem for me too - I need some serious advice whilst buying the boot to make sure it's going to stop the pain that hasn't been solved with a set of Superfeet and various loose/tight boot arrangements with my current boots. Can I find anywhere that can provide that kind of help? Nope.

Seems to be a gap in the market, understandably I suppose. But still frustrating when boarders have wonky feet just as much as skiers do.

Ok, thanks. Have dropped Colin an email, so will see if he considers that feasible.

Otherwise I guess I could head back to Sole, bit of extra expense but worked well last time.
