Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

St Anton -> Zurs / Lech - Busses?

 Poster: A snowHead

Probable a question for stanton but is the ski bus from St Anton to Zurs free or do you still have to ski to Rauz to catch the free skibus from there?

Correct.

If you take the Post Bus then you have to pay. You still have to ski to Rauz and take the Free blue bus.
The Post Bus is only free when they close down the lifts suddenly becuase of a sudden storm & your say trapped in St Cristoph unless you know the old piste route back to St Anton (not advisable in a storm or Avalanche conds are 2 or above.
This has happened to me on a couple of ocassions.

have fun

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Another similar question. Is it possible to get between Anton and Lec/Zurs without taking the bus? I've heard it's possible to ski off piste one way but not the other. Is this true? It's hard to tell from the piste map. BTW I am willing to hike Smile

Diarmuid It's been a while since I was in St Anton but yes, you can ski from St Anton toZurs. You have to take the small gondola to the top of the Valluga and ski off-piste down the North face, you can only take the small gondola with a guide. The alternative is to hike up, I believe there was a post here with some photos of some snowheads who had hiked up.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

As David@traxvax says This was covered back in August. This link from the students uni in Mainz,Gemrnay pretty much shows the two variants . They are taking the variant 2 which involves hiking up (avoiding the need the lift & hence being stopped if you do not have a guide) and taking the less steep descent.

Variant 1 is Steep and dangerous & should not be attempted unless you are Expert. A fall on this gradient could be your last Skullie

It is only one way but of course you can hike back up from Zurs to the Valluga. Ofh-Piste Anton specialists take the TrittkoptBahn and then hang a right and ski back down to Stuben above the highway Avalanche shelters (Illegal).
