Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

larry1950, they both match up to the Accuweather forecast so I'm guessing use the same input model (guessing GFS).

Still, nobody seems to think it'll be too windy.

Quite possibly the day of the Season at Glencoe, simply epic with beautiful fast granular spring snow under a perfect bluebird sky. Think this shot on the East Ridge of Meall a' Bhuiridh sums it up nicely:

Dew Points below 0c with light winds, so across the three open areas the snow will set up firm overnight, follow the Sun in the morning. Fantastic weekend forecast, after so many wild weekends, be sure to grab this opportunity.

Nevis was good over the weekend but from what I could see from the road I think Glencoe has more snow.

After a misty start it turned into a glorious spring afternoon at Glencoe on Sunday with lovely fast granular spring snow. Still an abundance of snow on the mid and upper mountain, with plenty of fairly unusual lines still possible between the runs. A fun route on Sunday was into the Rock Garden, cutting back into the Main Basin for a bit, a slingshot around Island Rock back across the top tows out below Little Rannoch to the various lines possible below Rannoch Glades - with the option of cutting back to the T-bar or dropping round and skiing the face beside the Cliffhanger.

Anyway, we've got touring kit - so will hopefully be able to find some snow somewhere in Scotland in a couple of weekends time Smile

Sadly it's closing weekend for the 2014 Scottish Season, so you've got Sat, Sunday and Monday to get some final lift served sliding in at CairnGorm Mountain and Glencoe. Gorm is the best bet for novices and early intermediates, or if your looking for park stuff. Glencoe has much more terrain and snow and is the best bet conditions wise for more experienced riders. However forecast is a bit naff for Sunday for the West, so it looks like a day for hitting CairnGorm and getting Glencoe in either side of it!

^View up the Ciste Gully on Friday 2nd May - hiking required, but you can do 5 laps walking over to the Funicular for uplift for the same uphill effort as one skin/walk straight back up to the Top Station!

One from Glencoe earlier in the week:

Brilliant day at Glencoe today, and hunners of snow still up there. Runs in the Main Basin, the Spring, Fly Paper, then a bacon roll and Irn-Bru at the Plateau Chateau to fortify ourselves in advance of heading off to Creise for a superb run down to Cam Ghleann. A return to Meall a Bhuiridh summit for a run down the East Ridge until the snow ran out was thwarted early by bergschrund that could swallow cars whole so we had to take the Baillie's Gully option. Which was nice ... Madeye-Smiley

About 70 of us enjoyed a great crack to celebrate midsummer at Glencoe today, skiing Meall a Bhuiridh's fine spring snow. The sun even came out for us after we'd done the hot work of climbing to the summit Cool

Those pictures of the T bar in June show just how much snow there was this season as it was completely buried in Feb and they were digging the lift out. Amazing really

It's all subjective charlie26! Some will only put skis/board on when they have hundreds of km of piste and speedy chairlifts at their disposal - while a fair few on here (me and Mrs MA included) will happily drive a few hundred miles for a spot of hiking/skinning and a few summer turns on a strip of snow. It certainly beats weekend trips to Ikea, garden centres etc!

Mrs MA and I went up to Glencoe the weekend after the summer slide and had a great time - chairlift up to the foot of the ski area; 15 mins hike to get to the snow; 35 mins from that point to skin up to the top of the mountain; fairly decent cover in the Main Basin and on the Spring Run - and 1000 ft of vertical available.

And the Glencoe webcams are still showing a couple of tempting (by die-hard standards Toofy Grin ) snow patches..... wink

A few pics from our 29th June 2014 outing:
