Not ESF. Evo2 if you want group lessons, others may be able to recommend private instructors.

@HandyHand, had a look at Evo 2 but seem to be weekly packages only. Are they French instructors? Thanks

They will do private tuition as well, not sure about the instructors tbh. Although depending on how much of a beginner you are, a week of lessons might not be a bad idea.

Not ESF. If Steve Angus is available would definitely recommend. He works with The Development Centre (TDC) and posts regularly on the Val D'Isere threads here.

@sugarmoma666, would prefer French or Italian, I tried TDC but theyíre all British (and could only see ski instructors)

Sorry, have only just seen this. I donít think so - TDC is a British outfit. I would highly recommend Steve - heís taught me 3 times and Iíve taken away 2-3 pointers which have been invaluable. Nice guy too.

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:
@moseyp, Because you're much better off finding a dedicated local school who specialise in snowboarding rather than being treated like second class citizens, being instructed by someone who has as much chance to be a good snowboarder as the most junior instructor who lost a bet in the bar last night...

I've witnessed first hand the fall-out of ESFs tuition and seen them turn a perfectly good beginner who had a grasp of the basics into a shambling wreck who couldn't turn and was ready to quit in just three morning lessons. And I've seen that same wreck transformed back again and progress to confident blue and easy red riding in just two lessons from a competant specialist instructor.

@Richard_Sideways, how is the local ESF not local? Got a private lesson which worked out well (Ä51 for up to five people so Ä17 each for three) with an Italian instructor who was very good and also, obviously, spoke Italian.

One of the guys is continuing on with lessons, were going to try TDC after recommendations but didnít get off the slopes early enough today to get up there. Problem is no info on websites (ie. all week long packages and nothing else). Will try call in tomorrow if we manage our time better

@moseyp, If you want an English instructor, Steve Angus is definitely your man.

If you are looking for one-one with a French instructor, my brother recently had lessons with Romain Taillefer (brother of Leo). He is a really good instructor who only teaches snowboarding. He has perfect English, but is born and bred in Val. My brother was a 53yr old absolute beginner and he had him linking turns with good posture, within a couple of mornings.
