Close to Geneva - cheap - suitable for long weekend March

Hi All,

I'm attempting to arrange a ski trip for a mixed group of about 10 (skiers with 1 week experience through to seasons) towards the end of March.

We are looking at going for a long weekend, ideally Thursday - following Monday and looking to fly to Geneva as flights are short/cheap.

The question is, which ski resort do we go to in order to cater for all abilities, short transfer time (due to limited time in resort) and cost of accommodation/lift pass. Is it even likely to be possible to get Wednesday to Monday accommodation for a group of 10 for this time period, or is it only possible to book in one week blocks? Any suggestions?

Initial thoughts were Flaine or one of the surrounding resorts that accesses the Grand Massif as ideally we want somewhere reasonably high up that will handle late March skiing.

Any and all help appreciated!

Chamonix would be good (though the whole group would probably not want to ski in the same part of the valley) and more likely to find non-standard week accommodation. Easier access from Geneva than Flaine and a lot more lively.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

MWG_Thomas, Chamonix is a good option, but so is Morzine. You can ski the Avoriaz area which is nice and high. Flaine is great for skiing but aprés ski is a lot quieter than Morzine or Chamonix. It depends what you are after... Smile

Chatel is a great option. We are a group of 10 and have gone to Chatel four years in a row, we book 3 apartments for the whole week and stay for 4 days. Generally we get a room each and it works out at around £120 per head. Geneva flights arrive and depart all day every day so you can arrive and leave when you like. We hire cars and it is just over an hours drive. The Ski area is huge and the village is beautiful with good bars and restaurants. We have had a lads trip 4 years running and it has been great every time.
We are going to les carroz (flaine) this year just for a change but I expect we will be back at some stage.

Les Contamines is normally terrific in March.
