Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 34,000 snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Er... You were on your stand all 3 days. Funny, how the smell of crap got stronger as one came out of the toilets spoo

Would that be the one near the stand with rather creepy hats with knitted beards?

Self imposed wedgie anyone?
What a tw@t! Very Happy

Anyway, we actually really enjoyed the Birmingham show over the past 3 days - well I did, and the many other assembled snowHeads certainly appeared happy enough Smile

As I was saying, there's always a risk of having too little fun at these things so a few weeks ago I posed a question to the Chief Smilie Maker, "how am I going to make the ski show more fun?"
He simply said, "Well... spacehoppers are fun"
Good plan, Gregory!

Montblancskier ... you muppet!

I started this threat on the basis that I went to the show on Saturday expecting so much more than was actually provided by the show organisers.

Thankfully I had a free ticket ... as I said I would have been disappointed if I had paid.

I went there expecting some small retailers / ski specialist etc ... there were some ... but my main take away was that this was a half arsed attempt of a show with little to incentivise a future visit - perhaps the organisers can take that as feedback!

Frankly I went to the show with cash to spend & came home with the same amount of cash (less £5 car park fee) having surveyed the junk on sale / non discounted stock.

Maybe getting some feedback from the stall holders would help ... they cannot be pleased with the show ...

I won't be going to NEC again ... hopefully the Earls Court Show will be an improvement ... the NEC is like a wounded animal waiting for the final shot !

Just opinion ... not really moaning or arsed what Montblancskier thinks TBH ... rolling eyes

white balance needs sorting, like Montblancskier needs his attitude balance sorting IMHO.

I went to the show on Friday as a last minute thing so I ended up paying the full £10 for the ticket and another £10 parking. The show was fairly small but I had a good time and would happily return.
The freestyle show was worth the entrance fee alone i thought!
One negative though, my sweet tooth got the better of me so I got rinsed for another £5 on the pick and mix. Only to walk another 3 steps forward to be approach by a 'glen plake' lookalike on a snowhead space hopper with a bucket full of haribos in his hand 'do you want a sweet mate?'. If only I had took the anticlockwise route round I would be sat here £5 better of!

everythings a bit less bling though isnt it - thanks to about five years of recession. I hope the NEC stand fees reflected that and the resultant decrease in foot fall? Ive not been so can't comment on value for money.

Montblancskier ... hadn't realised you were associated with Snow Vole ... had a look on my return home ... not as "clunky" as Snowheads but the power of a forum is in the members sharing info not how it looks ... good luck .. you will need it with your warm and welcoming approach to others ...

Maybe you were actually disappointed with the cost versus outcome of the show ??? Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

I'd made up my mind who Montblancskier was by the middle of page 1, and was already wondering if I should have brought popcorn.

As it happens, I took a friend to the show on Saturday, who is new to snowsports. I felt guilty. Thankfully, a little bird told me a bit about who was involved with marketing the stands, and I was able to make excuses. Which I think amused him.

Though I blagged a free ticket (Fifteen pounds?!?!? I mean, fifteen pounds?!?!?) and met up with a few friends, there wasn't enough there to get me excited about the upcoming season and I couldn't find a pair of gloves worth buying in a medium size. That doesn't seem much to ask from a ski show and for that reason, in future, I'm out. Sad

On a positive note though, I can vouch for the cleanliness of HellsBells's toilets. Little Angel

The Demise of the Southampton ski show, what a great event that was, sadly missed, if the weather was right you could get all ready for the ski season inside and then have a pint and a plate of chips watching the sailing outside Very Happy

and the toilets were really clean, really Toofy Grin

Boredsurfing, Yep, good old Calshot Spit. Soton was always a good season opener. Same organiser that puts on the Birmingham show, but they just couldn't make it work any longer.

But if you are struggling with an old fashioned, clonky forum there are plenty of fancy websites with all the software but none of the activity. Feel free to design something better, and see if you can convince any of us to come and play on your website instead.
I think you might find he's already tried that Laughing

I kind of guessed who it could be after reading this. You see, he just doesn't realise that the design / software / clonkiness is of secondary importance. It's the the quantity and quality of the community of users that matters.

well, we had free tickets and got to rest our bums in the club lounge, my daughter had a brilliant time, tried snowboarding, went up that climbing wall heaven knows how many times, and i didnt sign consent once!!! she joined up with another girl from the club and they seem to have collected a formidable supply of free sweets and souveniers plus a load of other rubbish, the food was well over priced the show was smaller than last year, and we didnt find what we were looking for, but ended up with some d30 protection that i wasnt!!! the displays were really good both the ramp and the bikes, some stall holders were really chatty and pleasant some were down right rude, (well known make of skis fairly adjacent to the atomic display!!) dissapointed with the Rossignol display, and if it hadnt of been for EB could have held the whole thing in my garage!!. Daughter also got to wear Dave Smith's gold medal (what a really nice guy) and he posed for loads of photos with some of our friends. The talk theatre talks were worth while, but wouldnt it be a good idea to turn off the 'main event' speaker in there????

so car park was a bit steep but thats normal for NEC, overall worth going.
and whilst the 'net' is great for getting lower prices you dont get to touchy feely which you can at the shows.

Going to Earls Court tomorrow so we will see how that compares.
