If your coming via Innsbruck & Train. Just walk into the city (about 5mins) there are a few ski shops where you can hire much cheaper than here in St Anton.

Official Weather The Alps will remain in a föhny-mild southerly air stream until Saturday. However, the southerly föhn wind on the north side of the Alps will probably not intensify anymore. Larger amounts of clouds, accumulating along the main Alpine ridge, are not expected. The low-pressure area, resulting in the southerly air stream over south-west Europe, will increasingly lose influence on the weather over our regions. As the air will remain unstably layered, further clouds will approach, which may temporarily block out the sun. A change in weather is forecast from Sunday on. The air stream will turn northward and colder air masses will reach us for longer. This change of air masses will probably result in some precipitation. The snow line will sink below 1000 m.

Im not sure if this is true but i was told (Austria specifically) it you read the very small print of the t&c of lift companys an articles of association with ski resorts. It is compulsory to be insured. Therefore if your involved in an accident with no insurance you may facr a double blow with the Police.

Official Weather A föhny southerly air stream will determine the weather throughout this week. Mild, but also unstably layered air masses will reach our regions. As a disturbance will additionally interfere with the weather on Tuesday night, temporarily unsettled, partly wet weather conditions will occur. On Tuesday afternoon, first showers may occur and become more intense on Wednesday. Unsettled conditions are forecast for Wednesday, further showers will follow. The snow line will range between 1400 m and 2100 m. From Thursday until Saturday, a southerly föhn wind will reach the north side of the Alps and result in mostly dry, but also continuously changeable weather conditions. Along the main Alpine ridge the clouds will remain compact and further occasional showers may follow. All in all, one or another surprise may occur everyplace.

@Grizzler, Do not go off piste alone Do not follow others (they may not know the terrain) blindly anywhere. Check the snowpak !!! The Two Germans (45 & 62yrs) who died yesterday in St Anton were very experienced off piste & fully equipped and even managed to trigger his airbag but the down force & weight (tons)of the snow was to great. Hinterrendl in St Anton has claimed many lives over the years.

Is'nt about time all this 'off piste marketing' is stopped? In a way there is some guilt here! There are just to many tourists who are not a enough aware, and will never be. Alpine marketing promoting off-piste skiing really is to blame! Yes Exactly. Folks should be made aware that off piste is dangerous & avalanches can be triggered at any time regardless of the hazard level (1-5) Mountains are dangerous all year. More people die in the summer than winter

Official Weather The weekend will bring a change in weather, however, before that lots of sunshine is expected on Friday. A cold front will approach from north-west in the late afternoon. This front will bring some showers particularly to the northern edge of the Alps on Friday night. Lower temperatures are temporarily expected, the snow line will sink near 1500 m. At the weekend, our regions will be located behind this front in a very windy west- to north-westerly air stream, a highly effective warm front will cross our regions. Most of the precipitation will fall on Saturday night and the snow line will rise towards 2000 m until Sunday. The new week will bring a short period of improved conditions and spring-like mild temperatures. Then, milder conditions are expected, as a changeable southerly föhn stream will determine the weather in our regions.

Re the above comments regards Albona - I actually feel a bit for the businesses in Stuben. They must have really been hit by the loss of passing trade/ lunch stops etc, we used to use it a lot and this season never went once, or even skied down, why would you now there's the fast Albona II lift? Sadly Albona is now much busier on pistes, needs a new on-hill restaurant, the old one half way down can't cope with increased volume of people. We were there quiet weeks, dread to think what it was like in kids holiday periods. Another observation they need a larger/ quicker lift or preferably chair from bottom of Albona to get people up to Valfegehrbahn level, horrendous queues there. I was tempted to actually walk up the side of the T Bar on one occasion. Lots of things are going to happen o Albona & Rauz. New Lifts New Pistes New Restaurants
