@t40ora, what exactly do you love about the 3V? That would help others provide an opinion. For me, i love the 3 valleys but, like you, also like to try other resorts. I went to gressoney in January and the positives were that it was dead with no lift queues at all throughout the week. The food was also some of the best i have had on any mountain. If you intend on doing any off piste then the moterosa would be ideal but there is no apres there and no real atmosphere. Have you skiied in Saalbach?

I searched for a 17/18 thread but could not find one. Is anyone out in the Monterosa now or been there recently?
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name.

For more mobility exercies search for mobilitywod or kelly starrett on youtube. He has also written and excellent book - becoming a supple leopard - https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Books/Becoming-Supple-Leopard-Kelly-Starrett/1628600837/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1501236807&sr=1-1&keywords=becoming+a+supple+leopard

@ster, Thanks, i saw that, but just wanted some real world experience as you have to pay for delivery and returns with sportspursuit. @Markymark29, I am not expecting them to be. Just want some mittens for the really cold days as the Kinco's cope well with everything else.

i have been to Saalbach twice in the last two years and stayed at Hotel Theresia/Johann in Hinterglemm. I have kids aged 3 and 5 and although the setup is not as slick as Esprit, it is a good alternative.

whats the deal with freeride areas and runs such as F33? Are these iteneries and avi controlled? Are they worth doing?

@NickyJ, If it was January then i would probably still hold out for a late deal. But, even the costs i was given were not exactly deal like in my view. If we could of got the right airport and childcare arrangements then i think we may have saved around £400 from brochure price. It may be that they are busier this year or are just no running as many flights from London.
And they're a friendly bunch.

Just thought i would add to this thread to help anyone out considering booking late with Esprit in the future. i have tried, but failed, to get any last minute availabilty with esprit over the last three weeks from any london airports. Where there have been flights we were unable to get childcare within the chosen accomodation. Also you are best to give them a call as what is advertised on their deals page is not always current availability.
You know it makes sense.

@Disaster, thanks for the review. i am a big fan of Saalbach (looking to go next weekend) and St Anton, would be interested in how you find Saalbach in regards to to Kitz, Mayrhofen and Soll?

Duct Tape. Works well, looks core. I already tried this for last season, i thought i would try and fix them properly for a change. While my gloves looked hardcore my skiing told a different story.

I just got some of Snowshepherd's own brand leather gloves for about £30, and some Kinco Mitts for about the same price (from the same source). Very impressed with comfort and build quality on both although I've not yet taken them skiing! The Snowshepherd ones have the advantage of a waterproof membrane. Both come pre-treated with water repellence on the leather. I was not aware they did a mitt version. I can see a purchase on the horizon as i wear my kinco gloves more then my hestra's now.

@spyderjon, @skimastaaah, thanks. Turns out, after going to every ski shop in Val, that no one stocks vist brakes or had anything that would fit. I rented today but may return them and try the leash idea. I didnt actually think it would be possible, from a release point of view, to use the binding without the brake.

@joeyg, I did the backcountry course in Tignes in 2013 and enjoyed it. I was not the biggest fan of the espace killy, but with snoworks, i got to explore the outstanding off piste oppurtunities there and i also got to do the tarrentaise tour and helicopter pick up from lac du chevril, which were both great. I was expecting a bit more tution to guiding that we got and we never did any video analysis which was disappointing.

Richard_Sideways, would of been cheaper to get an anker with a higher capacity - http://www.amazon.co.uk/13000mAh-Portable-External-Battery-Technology-Black/dp/B00BQ5KHJW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1412246703&sr=8-2&keywords=anker+charger

Based on...? I'm not that tall or that heavy so curious as to why I should go for the longest ski in the range? Cheers :) Because of the eary rise. I am similar stats to you and have the older Prophet 100 in a 186 without early rise. The best thing you can do is demo both sizes.

Valhender, You could do worse than book into a snoworks course for a week while you are there. I did a backcountry course with them in march and ticked off all the routes mentioned previously as well as other such as mickey's ears to lac de chevril and the tarentaise tour. You also get top instruction as a bonus.

Apologies been away at the weekend, but appreciate everyones comments. Jivebaby, Correct on the left handed but am right footed so you would think my stronger turn would be my right. As much as i would love to blame equipment I do not think i am good enough to do that yet. oz5000, Completely agree. I was doing an off piste week hence the twin tips (prophet 100's). philsmithski, Welcome and what you say makes a lot of sense. I do not have a specific objective but am the cliche skier whow wants to improve my technique to be able to ski everywhere.

skimottaret, Yes, we had a couple of lessons with Del. I believe, in the same week you did. He actually commented that you had made some big changes since last time he saw you. None of them good of course :) skimottaret, kieranm, Mosha Marc, Appreciate all your comments. Seem to be a general consnsus on commiting to the new turn earlier and more weight on the outside ski. I have found a few drills to get more weight on my outside ski but what about for starting the turn earlier?
