I used my Go Pro 5 as a car dash cam for a test run at 1080p. Worked really well. Decided to buy an extra 64GB memory card to go with the 128GB I have. I also got the Dual charger and extra battery pack. The only thing that gets me is how hot this Camera can get and that the battery drains whilst in standby, I've now taken to removing the battery from it when I'm not using it. On the first clear skiing day next week, I will use it, I'm really looking forward to it.

@Crispyapplepie, are you staying in Les Coches? If you are, you have very easy access to either La Plagne or Les Arcs.

Doing the Eurostar night ski train for the 3rd year in a row on Friday. I live in the North East but the town I live in is on the main East Coast train line to Kings Cross. Takes under 3 hours and due to booking well in advance, I can get advanced fares for around £30 return. Its not for everyone but the extra 2 days skiing makes it worth it for me. :sH:

After my experience on the outbound night train the year before last (I was sat next to someone who drunk way too much!) I was not surprised at the ban this last year. This is going to be the 3rd year in a row that I have used the Friday night Eurostar, second time of going Standard Premier, as it only cost me an extra £11 through Crystal!

Thanks @ansta1, I did consider going for the Hero 4 Black but it was only £50 cheaper. @Themasterpiece, there seems to be a lot of accessory packs on Amazon with cases and chest mounts, I might get myself one of those. Also, I've got a 128GB microSD card, so I have more memory than I need!

I now have a Hero 5 Black and really looking forward to using it but I'm wondering where would be the best place to have the adhesive mount? I'm more inclined to have it at the front of the helmet, to avoid the teletubby look!

After 4 years, I decided to sell my 175 Salomon Enduros, they were a good ski but I felt I had outgrown them in terms of my ability. I'm 189cm tall and weigh around 90kg. I've read a lot about going for a wider ski, I'm not looking at going extremely long but if it gets the best performance I will consider it. I rented a pair of Head i-Titans Supershapes 177cm for my last day in Tignes last season and was really impressed by them, especially when I was skiing on the verges of the Piste. I'm not much of an off piste skier but I am open to improving my technique for it. I'm going to the Manchester Ski test next month, so I am going to test out as many pairs as I can but some advice on here too would be great! :sH:

Managed to ski the Face in January, the tough bit is that really steep part, I fell over after nearly straight lining down it and was laughing nervously when I got back up! Santons was actually very nice this time round for me, just remembered how narrow it was and it was pretty quiet too, which helps.

I think everyone should look on the bright side, this recent heavy snow has also been accompanied with very low temperatures. Which should help the base for the rest of the season.

I'm glad I'm arriving next Saturday morning and not today. This happened last year, on this very weekend, when I was in La Tania and that Saturday was probably the worst conditions I've skied in.

Lesson learned: keep important ski holiday documents saved or get a print out. Will save on stress. Then again, I forgot to take my electric plug EU converter to La Tania with me last year and only realized just as the Eurostar train arrived in Moutiers!

I arrived into the 3 Valleys last January to terrible pistes due to rain the previous night, did I moan on about it? No, we can't control the weather and poor conditions can happen at any time during the season.

@PowderAdict, if your after MIPS the Smith Camber range has an MIPS option that has an XL size, which I just got myself and it fits really well. I'm the same as you, the Sweet Protection XL helmets did not fit right at all!

At least 2 La Plagne rests in this list: Daily Telegraph The 40 Best Alpine restaurants. Great to see 2 of our favourites in there, #laplagne #paradiski https://t.co/fa0xECR133 Got to agree with the inclusion of Bouc Blanc in La Tania on that list, I had at last 2 great meals there last January. :D

The bus service more than makes up for the lack of in Ski in-out, I think the fact that you have the choice of 3 very different areas every morning a big bonus. On price, at the moment I could get 10 days in Banff for less than 7 days in Whistler. Also the Canadian $ is at its best rate against the £ in years! 8)

@Kennyboyo, Looking at where you are, https://www.google.com/maps/place/Langley+Hotel+Tignes+2100/@45.4687166,6.9051993,18z/data=, you have plenty of choices when it comes to rental shops. Looking at it from the street pov, I think the onsite Hotel rental shop is a Sport2000. That's only a guess though. When are you going to Tignes? I'm there on the 16th January. 8)

I have to vote for the Smith Turbo fan goggles, they've been fantastic for me and they really do help in preventing steaming up. I've now invested in the I/OX turbo fan goggle with both the Red SolX and Blue Sensor mirror lenses, so I can interchange them for different light conditions.
