@RichClark, Thanks for such great feed back. I'm really glad you enjoyed the afternoon but most of all you feel confident to tune your own skis :D

I'm with @Fergus, the best ski straps on the market. You can even strap your poles to your skis when your boot packing. A lots of the guides in Cham use them
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@jason123, The wax that is applied by the manufacturers its more of a storage wax to stop the base drying out. Its applied by machine and will wear off very quickly. A good hot wax with an iron will have you gliding for much longer. IMO paste wax are a waste of money. The combination is a good hot wax and then applied some Zardoz when your out there But as @Themasterpiece, said some people just ski them

@spyderjon, thanks 😀 Hi all I'm now setup to tune skis and snowboard I'd like to think to the same high standard as spyderjon As spyderjon said I have over 30 jigs for binding mounting. I do tech and alpine bindings with or without QK. I'm based in Rustington so only down the road from the old Edge & Wax If you interested have a look at my web site www.powertoedge.co.uk or give me a call for a chat or pm me Sorry admin I hope that's ok

thats why you should go for a good quality universal wax like zoom. Some cheap universal waxs have poor temp range. Race waxes are condition percific
You know it makes sense.

@gixxerniknik, Go for Dominator Zoom it still works well even down to -18 if your ski start to feel a bit sticky rub some Zardoz and your be fine. The best way to keep your ski running well all week is to have them cooked in a hotbox to get the wax to really soak into the base of the ski. Just to add I,m setting up a ski tuning business based in Rustington West Sussex. I should be up and running in about 3 weeks My Wed site is www.powertoedge.co.uk Any body up at Hemel ski test may have meet me as I was helping spyderjon set up the skis

Hi Thanks for all the replies Iím a lot more positive about the op now. I sometime feel really angry about having to have a bypass op. I have never smoked Iím not over weight I keep fairly fit. Someone suggested doing a blog about my op, Iím not that good at this sort of thing but Iíll give it a go. So from the start About 2 years ago I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid and my cholesterol was a bit high. My GP let my cholesterol steadily rise over a year until it got to 8.5 before putting me on statin. 3 months ago I got really bad chest pain very much like heart burn which lasted about 3 hour. Two week later I had the something so I when to the GP how sent me to cardiology. They put me on a tread mill and told me I had an irregular heart beat and high cholesterol and an underactive thyroid went hand in hand. I was then sent for an angiogram and presser wire. Before I went I was thinking a stent or medication I had all ready been put on aspirin and beta-blockers. Laying on the table the doctor told me that one arteries was blocked and two other was restricted and the best thing would be too have a triple bypass. To say I was shocked would be an under statement So here I am waiting for a date for the op :(

dulcamara, My goal is to make the boot a little more forgiving. If the recommendation are to go for the would cup that's fine. I was thinking the would cup boosters was more for a race boot with a flex of 150 + flex

I have a pair of Lange RX130 boots which come with a cam lock power strap like the booster straps. But the booster straps come in three grades soft, medium and would cup with different amounts of elastic in them. The Lange power straps have no elastic in them at all and have no give. I do find the boots have very little flex in them. So is it worth considering fitting the medium booster strap.

In my experience, improvement, particularly for strong skiers like yourself, is not a smooth upward path, but a serious of step changes with periods of consolidation and experimentation in between. The better you get, the harder won the improvements are. What keeps my passion for skiing alive is the fact that I can always get better, so the challenge, frustration and reward are an intrinsic part of skiing. I rob@rar thanks for the complement I donít think I would have described myself as a strong skier. But I take your point progress can be slow but when it clicks itís a fantastic felling I will see you soon at Hemel for some lesson :)

Pedantica, +1 AsterixTG, On my off piste week I had 5 days of coaching but my progress is slow at the moment. and as Pedantica, said I have 4-5 day a year of coaching at Hemel I defiantly think I will do my L1 this year hopefully that will help me move forward

When I go skiing I always seem to get frustrated with my skiing. Iíve had some great ski coaching from Rod and Scott at Inside Out. About 18 months ago I had a light bulb moment and it all clicked. But since then I seem to be struggling to move forward. Do others find the same thing? This year I went on an off piste trip very out of my comfort zone and loved it, but I struggled so much with the chopped up snow I felt somewhat deflated. I just want to keep improving my skiing so I feel I can ski all the mounting well and not just bits of it. :(
